We were docked at the cargo port, but there was a free shuttle to – in the heart of the city. According to the ship’s port guide this was a 20 minute journey, but it only took about 10-15 minutes.
Atrractions
Trinity College
The shuttle stop was just down the road from Trinity College, so we wandered into the grounds for a few photos. They run tours to see the Book of Kells, http://www.tcd.ie/Library/bookofkells/plan-visit/ but we didn’t get around to this.
River Lliffey
Temple Bar
The Temple Bar area is one of the city’s oldest areas which has been rejuvenated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Bar,_Dublin
Christ Church Cathedral
St Patrick’s Cathedral
St Patrick’s Cathedral is just beyond Christ Church Cathedral, and although we didn’t visit it, we could see it down the road.
Dublin Castle
The Castle was built in 1204 by King John, we only wandered around the grounds and the Chapel Royal on our own, but apparently the Chester Beatty Library and two museums can also be toured on your own, and you can also visit the State Apartments but you would need to take a guided tour to do so http://www.dublincastle.ie/VisitorFacilities/
Molly Malone
Grafton Street
It’s a bustling street full of street entertainers, tourists and locals and whilst we didn’t do any shopping on Grafton Street, it’s well worth a walk down it.
St Stephens Green
This lovely city centre park is located at the end of Grafton Street. I was quite surprised by the size of this park and though we only ventured into very little of it, it was absolutely beautiful
