Canada - Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax was our first stop on our driving tour of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

We spent our first afternoon and night in Halifax at the lovely Delta Barrington, situated within walking distance of all the attractions.  We didn't get much time for sightseeing as we were heading off to start our driving tour in the morning as we'd be returning here later in the trip, but we did spend the afternoon at the harbour, unwinding after our long flight.

The next morning we headed off to Fisherman's Cove.  We wandered around the unique shops on its charming boardwalk and admired the beautiful views.  After making an impressive start on our souvenir shopping we carried on our journey.

Following the coast road (Marine Trail) to Sherbrooke and then onto Antigonish was a long route and whilst it was pleasant we found it slightly disappointing.  Perhaps if we'd had more time we could have left the main road to explore the dirt tracks that may have lead us to the view we were hoping to see.  Or perhaps if we hadn't got a flat tyre our experience would have been a little less jaded.  Unfortunately though we didn't even get to visit Sherbrooke Village Museum as it had closed by the time we arrived.

Our next stop was at Antigonish.

We returned to Halifax later in our trip from Yarmouth.

This time we spent the morning at the Citadel and watched the firing of the noon day gun.

Then we drove out to Peggy's Cove to see the famous lighthouse.

Our final stop was St John's, Newfoundland.
